My Black is Transnational

Mmekom Udosen is an Nigerian-American, born and raised in Queens, NY that is passionate about health and social justice issues. She graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a B.S. in Africana Studies & Integrative Neuroscience. Her undergraduate honors thesis is entitled, “Perception of Mental Illness Among Ibibios Living in Nigeria & the Diaspora”. She is most passionate about empowering adolescent girls, addressing health disparities, and normalizing mental health in African and African immigrant communities. In addition, She is also the Founder and Executive Director of a non-profit organization called, Iban Ifiok.

She currently is m a Masters in Biomedical Sciences candidate at Rutgers University.
